The TDAA Competition Team is a special group of dancers who are chosen by an audition process. Team dancers represent TDAA locally through civic performances and competitions locally and at a National level.

This is a special program designed for dancers who strive to accomplish an advanced level of training.

It?s not just about dance training but total education. Competitive TEAM members learn life skills through performances, workshops, working as a TEAM and so much more!

Team members have a higher level of commitment that must be met.

   Class requirements (what classes must be attended)

   3-4 competitions per dance season

   Extra rehearsals

   More studio hours

   Travel

   Classes run August through May

If you are interested in becoming a TDAA Competitive Dance Team member please contact the office for audition information. There is a $20 audition fee due at the time of audition registration. Auditions are held at the end of the regular dance season.

Competitive Class Requirements

Mini (ages 8 and under)
1 hour of ballet is MANDATORY. The Mini Company will compete in tap and jazz; hip hop and lyrical are optional until you reach the junior level.

Junior (ages 9-12)
1.5 hours a week of ballet is MANDATORY. The Junior Company will compete in jazz, lyrical,hip hop and tap.

Teen (ages 13-up)

2 hours of ballet a week is MANDATORY. The Teen company will compete in jazz, lyrical, hip hop and tap.
*2 workshops mandatory

Senior (ages 15 and up)

2 hours of ballet is MANDATORY. Senior Company members will compete in jazz , lyrical, hip hop, and tap. Technique and jazz/lyrical choreography will take place during the same class time. "Small groups" will also be chosen during the audition process. These classes will have separate choreography times.

Hip Hop Company (ages 11 and up)

The Hip Hop Company must attend a jazz technique or ballet class. This company will compete as a large group. At auditions a select group will be chosen to compete in the "small group" category at competitions also.

Tap Company (ages 8-up)
The Tap company must attend a jazz technique or ballet class.
*2 workshops mandatory

All company members (Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior) will take part in 1-2 Production numbers one being Musical Theater and one being Hip Hop. This choreography will be taught on Saturday. These rehearsals dates will be handed out at the Parent Meeting.
